That's a story i never heard before,i love history of Asbury Park, my first job was at the boardwalk back in 1995 and we cleaned the covention hall from top to bottom-just being there gave me chills of all the life that was once there-its a shame that it had to take a turn like that,Asbury is like 1 mile long i think he picked the perfect spot for it and u can tell his heart was all in it-things come and go -the developers would love to c ppl enjoying that area once again-great story goodluck AP

Yeah really, LIXISFINE, chill. "Real" is a subjective word, especially when it comes to history. The film is just a positive point of view. Marry yourself to misery or make it better. Building AP's future on its best past while including current culture is as good as it can get here - or anywhere; that-is unless you prefer nihilism, or sleeping where you defecate. Let your anger go. Great job film-wise! super restoration job, and great that the professor dude with the beard is so into his work!

Great documentary! Tells the story of then - and now. It will be great to see the renovation finished. I especially enjoyed the knowledgeable and interesting restoration guy who obviously loves what he's doing! Strange thing is that MY father used to drag me off of the carousel too.....just when I was getting close to grabbing the elusive gold ring! Good job!!

LXIXISFINE chill out .. Why don't you just appreciate the editing and film work for the documentary and not be a bitch about the historical significance

The shame of it is that you may actually believe that it is the "end of story". Problem is that you were the ones who introduced your version of AP's demise. The closing of a Turnpike exit had nothing to do with it, and neither did a new attitude re big cities. You might consider "chilling" yerownself and removing your incorrect version of what the real history is.
Don't avoid the issue. By the 60s, AP was becoming a war zone due to the corruption of state and local politicos. Low class tourists and merchants from NYC who enforced a segregated whites-only policy on all housing and business east of Railroad Ave ("Memorial Dr"), even after laws forbade the practice. The place was bound to explode, and it did. Putting a new pretty face on the problem won't fix it - it never does. If you didn't live there, you can't understand the problem.
