"The Yang Sam Khum is the breath of Muay Thai Chaiya" - Ajarn Lek

Filmed at Baan Chang Thai in Bangkok, I'll take you through this crucial fundamental technique step by step (excuse the pun).

This is part one of two, so once you've finished here, go check out part two!

Thanks to Ajarn Lek, Kru Aof and Kru Yee at Baan Chang Thai for their generous help with the filming.

  • may I ask, what is the purpose of Yang sam khun?

  • @sdurgefafd Of course you may! The Yang Sam Khum's main purposes are to

    1) get a natural feeling for the Tha Kru stance, making sure that it's stable and strong

    2) to gain stability and balance, and a natural feel in the yok khao guard (raised knee guard)

From this basic walk and stance, all of the Muay Chaiya techniques both offense and defense can flow into smooth combinations, with strong, safe and solid footwork.
