Because, ever since the 1980 Joseph Papp production of Pirates in NY, where he put it in, many people have copied the idea. It is a great trio, and since most people don't ever perform Ruddigore (too bad), I guess it's at least good that people get to hear it.

No, she's supposed to be a contralto, but the girl here is clearly not one. You can make it work, as the this soprano does.

I'm assuming from your screen name that you are the pirate king.
You are very, very talented.
My community theatre recently did this show... and your voice is just as full and rich as our king was.. and he was a middle aged man.
I don't mean to be rude, but I wonder how old you are here?
Either way, you are quite talented and I hope to hear more of you in the future.
