can sport 2 be used as a beginner glider?

It all depends. They sell it as a intermediate glider. BUT, it is very forgiving...
So what it comes down to is your ability, and your desire to fly. If you will fly 1hr/weekend then no way, but if you are planning on being a sky g_d then it will be good for now and later.
