@islandurban Robert doesn't hit the high notes as often or hold them as long as he did 30 years ago, but his voice is still beautiful and the music still comes from a beautiful place deep within him. He is a living treasure of our home.
Listening to this transports me back to many May Day evenings at the Waikiki Shell, laying back, appreciating the stars and enjoying Robert and his halau and Roland. Wonderful times. Mahalo nui loa.
The root of the word Haole is "Ha" or the breath of life and "Ole" meaning without. The native Hawaiians used it to describe the men who came on ships who were, in fact many shades lighter than they were. They appeared pale and literally "Without Breath" to the Hawaiians. It's only derogatory if the person using the word means for it to be.

so lovely. would have liked though that the mic more focused on his voice rather than his playing - lovely that it was too.

It takes a spectacular voice to be able to properly present this beautiful mele. Robert is one of the few who can do it and do it meticulously.
