  • Aw, thank you for bringing up marraige. Marraige is a CIVIL CONTRACT first & foremost. You don't see the church keeping atheists & agnostics from marrying, do you? It's the responsibility of the government to honor the civil contracts of individuals, regardless of their sexuality. Churches are free to discriminate all they want, but our government MUST treat all people equally. Gays don't want "special rights"; they want the same rights everybody else has.

  • coyeti, Gays DON'T HAVE a gay lifestyle; they have lives no more remarkable than anybody else. What the hell do you think you are "protecting" your kids from? You can't catch being gay. It's not a disease. You are either born with that brain wiring or not. What you are doing is perpetuating a whole new generation of children with their heads buried in the sand, ignoring the reality around them.

  • Republicans: Respecting our soldiers as long as they're male, straight, and don't end up writing books about the horrors of war (ahem kurt vonnegut ahem ahem).

  • Most "poor people" are Republicans.

  • Poor people aren't typically lazy people. And there are lots of lazy people who are well off. In fact, lots of people who work retail and hard labour are stuck in poverty and they are some of the hardest working people in society.

Which sounds better to you? "Mom has the opportunity to become financially independent" or "Mom is stuck in a low paying job because she can't afford to go back to school?"

  • "Which sounds better: "Mom is on welfare" or "Mom is at work"".

Neither, both sounds fine for someone who doesn't hold contempt for poor people.

"Do you really want a child to have to say his Mom is taken care of by the government?".

No, i want a child to have parents that can put food on the table even if they need government help to do so.

  • "Not showing the good that most Christians do, is unfair, and very Socialist".

Gee i don't know there's a censor on the media over people like Mother Theresa, The Pope, The Red Cross etc.

"Communist want you to believe in the government, not God".

Actually communists want the people to believe the government is just and they should never question it.

Kind of like what the right winger wants American people to do for the current admin.

    Ironic isn't it?

  • Would you rather they don't have help at all?

Proud or not they need food and they need help.

If you don't want to help them that's your choice but don't hide your contempt for them by blaming their (lack of) father.

  • Ah, I found the slavery comment. They went too far in their comparison. They describe gays as 2nd class citizens, much like blacks were once not considered a "whole" person, but the slavery comment was way over the top. Slavery was much worse than just being treated as 2nd class citizens or not a whole person.

  • I'm sorry, slavery comment came from someone else. I'm glad a teacher would not say such a thing. Not, that a life of a gay man is not hard, but that it just does not compare to slavery.

  • Because they are poor, and they want the hand-outs that the Democraps will give them. Republicans want you to be able to work and earn your own money. Which sounds better: "Mom is on welfare" or "Mom is at work". Do you really want a child to have to say his Mom is taken care of by the government?
