Separation Day 3 (Nick)

Nick nearly jumped out of bed when his mother lightly touched his arm. He was just so amazed by the way the day before had gone that he couldnt wait to get back to it. He also was dying to see Gary again. He had so many more questions for him. There would still be a whole day of seminar before Nick would get a chance to see Gary.

It wasn't till dinner brake that a pair of hands covered Nick's eyes. Nick grabbed the hands with his own before stating, "Gary."

"Guilty." Gary replied playfully. Nick spun around to look at him.

"Hey. Whats up?"

"Nothing, really. My little sister is being extra annoying today."

"Yeah, little siblings can get like that."

"I'm sure your older brothers think that of you too." Gary laughed.

"Me?" Nick laughed as well. "I'm an angel."

Denise walked up beside Nick. "Nick, you going to introduce me to your new friend?"

"Mom, this is Gary. Gary this is my mother."

"Well, hello Nicky's gorgeous mother." Gary held Denise's hand and lightly kissed it.

Denise blushed. "Nice to meet you too."

Nick just rolled his eyes. He grabbed Garys shoulder and pushed him away. "Come on Gary."

"Where are we going?" Gary asked after they were out of sight of Denise.

"I thought we could take another walk or something."

"More boyfriend proubles?"

"Not really. Just want to talk I guess."

"Bout what?"

"Actually, I was kinda hoping you would let me ask you some questions. Personal questions." Nick asked nervously.

"Shoot."

They were already outside and alone by now. "How did you know?"

"Know what? That I was gay?" Nick nodded. Gary thought for a moment. "I knew something wasn't right about me when I got into middle school. All the guys could talk about was who was wearing the shortest mini that day. I never cared to notice. They all had a few girlfriends by then too. When I was asked out by this girl named Victory, I said yes. She was beautiful. We had only dated for a month, before we took it to the next level. I thought that was just what I wanted; what I should want. Truth is, I wasn't ready for it. Neither was she. I was thirteen and she was twelve. We broke up the next day. We couldn't look at each other anymore. I quit dating for the next three years. Thats when I found Jake. He made me feel as if no one ever had. We were in love."

"What happened?" Nick was hanging on to Garys every word.

"His parents found out about us. They sent him to military academy. He joined the air force last year."

"Why? Why didn't he come back to you after he was eighteen?"

"He told me that if he kept seeing me, his whole family would disown him. I told him it was for the best. He should never have to choose between family and lover."

Nick let a silent tear fall. "Thats horrible. I could never choose between Joe and my family."

"Then, just pray your family will accept Joe the way you do."

'If only it was that simple.' Nick thought to himself. His biggest fear was his family finding out about his relationship. He didn't know how he and Joe would get through that. He could never just let Joe go like Jake had done to Gary.

Nick was letting more tears fall. Gary placed his hand on Nicks. Its ok. Nick continued to cry. Gary wrapped Nick in a tight hug. They stayed close for two minutes before Gary pulled Nick out and looked him square in the eyes. "Just love with all your passion and never leave a minute to chance."

Nick looked up to match Garys eyes. They were filled with love and compassion. Unconsciously, Nicks head slowly moved toward Garys just as his was. They met in the middle for a slow, deep kiss. All Nicks worries disappeared for this moment; only this moment.

"Nicholas Jerry Jonas!!!" Denise screamed at the sight of the two boys kissing.
