Richard White, M.D. shows how the lab is using zebrafish to research
blood stem cells, with the ultimate goal of developing treatments for
diseases such as melanoma, leukemia, and lymphoma. Zebrafish -
vertebrates like us - are particularly useful because their gene
functions are remarkably similar to our own. To see how stem cells behave
in a living animal, the lab has developed a transparent zebrafish called
