The best thing about this is he is stock still with none of the pretentious gestures you see from some of the modern greats, Bell, Vengerov, Jansen etc. And doe this take anything from the performance? No, of course not.

At 3:00 Oistrakh changes slur staccatos to spiccato because he was not that good at slur staccato. When you see Oistrakh's Sibelius concerto 3rd movement, he DOES slur staccato but looks hard. However, that kind of small thing COULD NOT stop the king of violinist. He KNEW what was his weakness and HOW to overcome that thing.

On all of them the largest violin artist of times ,that his name shows it rather was Hebrew than Gypsy
