  • hi, i have a boss me25, how can i get the 8th doteed delaty? iplease help

  • @Dust0fNation :

I don't kow that unit. Can you set the note value to dotted 8th? If you can, then set the beats per minute (or tap the beat into the unit) and set to dotted 8th. Otherwise you have to convert the note value into milliseconds and set your delay. A dotted 8th note at the proper BPM for Streets is 254ms. But learn how to do this so you can adjust for other songs. Then you have to play the notes at the right BPM or it wont sound right. See other tutorials.

i cant set the value to 8th dotted but i can tap tempo, i just dont know how long to tap until i have the 8th noted delay ? im confuzed

  • @Dust0fNation :

Intro to Guitar Delay Parts 1 and 2 explain it. Also search on Google. You need to understand the difference between beats per minute, note value and delay time. They are all related. Your delay should be able to set the delay time. You dont have to tap in a beat. But you do have to play at the correct BPM. Put the mp3 into MixMiester to give you the BPM. Then play at that beat. Streets is 354ms which is a dotted 8th at 127 BPM. I explain the math in the vids.

  • Please teach us, touch helps release u2 - city of blinding lights (delay introduction)

    Thanks

  • @carlos270364 :

It's on the list. I will cover the intro like the one on the Chicago DVD. It's mostly just a lot of shimmer and making sure the picked notes are smoothed out and not heard.

  • @U2GuitarTutorials It is very helpful tutorial thx, by the way Mila seems to be jealous about guitar ;-)

  • i've been trying to work out this formula for ages .......finally! good stuff, much better than the pro lessons I've found on youtube

  • Boss DD-20 is a great modulated delay. Seems that the Line6 M9 and M13 are also great units. Best delay out there in my opinion is on the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx (but expensive).

  • Great lesson. Thanks! What delay pedal do you use? I am trying to decide between the boss and the line 6. Which do you prefer?
