The dabbawalas have a six sigma rating by Forbes magazine which means it has 99.9% efficiency rate!

Billions of people world wide manage to bring their own lunch to work and bring the empty lunch box back home. Why can't India do that? What is the basic need for this overly complicated waste of manpower and resources? Why can't people just carry their own lunch with them (like the rest of the world does)?

If they keep on going to American-based restaurants, their middle class won't be the only thing expanding! Look what happened to Americans when they stopped eating home cooking. Don't be like us, India, stay healthy!

Harvard and Wharton have both done case studies on these guys.

They are way beyond the Six Sigma standards. In Six Sigma, there is 3.4 errors in 1 Million processes but Dabbawalla have achieved 16 Millions processes with a single error!!!

What a beautiful example of trust and coordination.

It's good to know that Indian people are so loyal to their traditions, family bondings, and cooperation...

And even after having so many international Food Chains there, they still prefer their home-made meals, which means they are slightly less show-off than the rest of the world...

@manjula49 I dont think ready for the 80 s is makin fun of ur traditions. Rather she s makin fun of the whole mother in law/ *monster* thing. Like the mom in law will cook for her own son, but never for her daughter in law. Mother in laws are notorious for not giving a crap about their daughter in laws, or even liking them. Thats it thats all.
