Laura keeps her own blog "Taiwan-Born American" where she shares her personal advice on teaching and her personal experiences about living in Taiwan.

Here's something. Taiwanese are very prejudiced in the buxibans. They want white americans/north american accents. ABC's find it very hard to get a job. Most schools are for profit only and don't really care if the student actually learns. Most students who learn English can't speak any. -- I have been teaching in Taiwan for about 2 years now and i tried out two 'great' schools before settling at one for a year... decided it sucked as well. now i work in a foreigner owned school that cares.
