Eugene S. Capps, 73, of Bowie, died peacefully at home June 13 after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born Aug 24, 1935 in North Carolina and graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. He was a Lieutenant Colonel for the Army and a career Army pilot for 32 years. After retiring from the military, he worked for Amalex and Falcon Engineering. He was a devoted church member, avid dog lover, and racquetball player. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Jewel Capps; two sons, Alan Capps and Mark Capps; one daughter Robin Baker; one brother, John Stutts and seven grandchildren. Family will receive friends 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at First Baptist Church of Crofton, 1690 Crofton Pkwy, Crofton with a service following at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 at Arlington National Cemetery (please arrive at the Administration Building at 2:30pm).
