Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen visits Birmingham for the BBC's Holiday programme. Broadcast on BBC1 in February 2007.

'I was astonished when I saw how beautiful Birmingham was. The buildings, the art, the use of the water - it is an extraordinary jewel of a city, and one that I think is not very well known outside the UK. I was just bowled over when I was there. It is quite wonderful.' - Bill Clinton, former US President, after 1998's G8 summit.

  • Excelent. Thanks for uploading this!

(fwiw Marketing Bham were pushing for the Holiday Show to come here for ages, but point taken)

  • Yeah, I know they do stuff behind the scenes. Though I did read of some event at the NEC or NIA recently, put together by marketing Birmingham, at which the representatives were unable to say what events were going on in the city. One step forward, two steps back, and all that. :-S

  • Fantastic. I missed this when it was broadcast 'cos I think I was out of the country. I love Birmingham and I loved this piece.

  • ...and just by uploading this I've done more to promote the city than Marketing Birmingham will do all year! :-S

  • Hello,

  • im proud 2 be from birmingham !!

    i luv brum

  • Up the Villa!

  • he should have shown some of the beautiful parks etc, not just shops for materialists

  • If it's good enough for Karen Brady it's good enough for me!.

  • You should get out more (but avoid the Alum Rock rd!)

  • I've lived here for 43 years and apart from the recent major city centre 'pimp-up' it still looks like a big shithole to me. And if anybody wants to hark on about Birmingham being 'multi-cultural' tollerant then try walking down Alum Rock Road any time after 8pm.

  • up the blues lol

  • yayyyyyy ..... berrmingum!!!!!!!!

  • I loves my Brum!!!!
