The day after the 5 star "big one" taken from near Minsterworth church. Far fewer people about than the previous day and the wave was almost as big. This was probably due to the flow in the river being less. For enthusiasts the wave at Minsterworth is usually more of a swell than a breaking wave as it is near the Severn Bore Inn.

  • @neilandfi Thanks for the info. My great Uncle was a Severn waterman so I got a few tips from him over the years like the river current virtually stops mid stream a couple of minutes before the bore arrives. In September I am off to Lincs to try and see a 4 star Trent Aegir. Keep watching for any results.

  • Minsterworth Church is more of a mid-to low water level spot. The freshwater level was just a fraction too high for it in March, and way too deep for places beyond it. I reckon it could be good at the top end of the run for the Festival/ September tides.

Always nice to see someone who carries on watching after the wave has gone.
