DRAG CITY 1977

This video was taken on 8mm film in 1977 by Hugh Greeson at the old Ringgold, Georgia track, called "Drag City". Hugh is a friend of mine and he let me borrow his film and I had it transferred to DVD.

Can't remember his name but I was there when a guy with a beautiful 66 chevelle got super mad at being cheated at Brainerd Optomist drag strip.He swore he was going to reopen Drag city so racers would have somewhere fair to race.Like three weeks later he was back at Brainerd handing out flyers for an upcoming race.We all went to Drag city,it was awesome it would have been right around this time.Really cool video,brings back some great memories.I race in Fl these days.Is that track still around?

interesting enough that exact road runner was purchased by James Fitzsimmons and was raced by my father Johnny Fitzsimmons in the late 70's at Drag City. I was wondering if you had any modern photos of it restored as said in your post.

I would really appreciate it (as would my father).

The Road Runner @ 59sec I bought it in 2004 and restored it. I went there in the 70s and remember most all of these cars.

Back in the good old days of drag racing. This would have been in the era of my Dad racing. He built a new car every two years and was competitive in every one of them. I can't afford that today with the high costs of everything. He raced at Drag City back then, only that one was in Youngstown Ohio!!
