@jazzas90000 One can never know for sure. All I know is that the war never should have taken place. There was no sound reason for fighting it, other than to defend against German attack.

@BryantFinlay the truce was never official the leader of britain or germany never declared it the soldiers just did it mustv been really hard to have a truce for a week meet new people from your enemies side become friends then go back to fighting but in 1914 austria hungary were still at war with serbia over the assasination of their archduke germany was an ally and wouldnt just stop fighting britain and france wouldnt stop fighting if germany continued to help austia hungary

@jazzas90000 I feel much the same way about him. Why not allow the soldiers to travel lightly so they can cover more distance in less time? Why not use a creeping barrage? Of course this whole war should have ended with the Christmas Truce.
