These Nautilus machines are from the 70s, but they are better than most new ones that you will find. In 1986 Arthur Jones sold Nautilus to concentrate on his activities with MedX, and Nautilus went to hell. Today MedX machines are the best in the world without a doubt, but they are a bit hard to find unless you live in Florida or California. The MedX lumbar machine is literally the ONLY way to exercise the critical muscles of the lower back through their entire 72-degree range of motion. It cures the most expensive non-life-threatening medical condition in the USA, chronic lower back pain, with just 5 minutes use per week (or per 2 weeks), in 80% of patients (the other 20% are people who's pain is caused by actual spinal problems, rather than just by muscular atrophy). Here are some links to articles by Jones. The first 4 were written in 97 so they are basically perfect. The last one is on proper break-in training for a beginner, but was written in the 70s. Jones modified many of his views between the 70s and his later years, so read critically. Still, the fundamental principles are pretty much the same.
