This is from the NPR report filed by Wendy Kaufman; June 27, 2008.

I have a kind of love/hate relationship with Bill Gates. On one hand the innovation and enterprise he has given to the world has impacted the field of computers. On the other, the business practices of Microsoft, and the inability for anyone to come up with a real competitive operating system for PC's, pisses me off.

Whether good or bad, Bill Gates has most certainly given the world the ability to network and learn together. So goodbye Bill. Your a genius and a dick.

  • Love the Pie thing Ha ha !!!. I also love the magic jack !

  • @Blade004, et al. You think the typical CEO/CIO wants beauty, passion, non-conformtity, innovation?

    Of COURSE NOT.

They want "standards', uniformity, and productivity

Microsoft GAVE them what they demanded, and paid the price, and gained the riches.

  • Song name? Heard it in GTA4 once.

  • @jahellaspartan With Sinclair, Acorn, Amstrad, Commodore, Atari...etc. all gone, it really is a damn shame that we now live in a time where Computing has lost it's beauty through competition, innovation and passion. The is alive but it's fundamentally now dead. The fire is gone and it's just how Microsoft wanted it and that is a piece of dead wood that gets rarely lit.

Thank you Microsoft for making the industry boring and lifeless.

  • Everybody here is complaining about how ruthless Microsoft is, but it is nowhere near as ruthless as Marcus Licinius Crassus. He would go to people's houses in Rome, buy them and the surrounding houses for a ridiculously low price, put out the fire, and then rent them back to the original owners. Also, he would execute criminals, and then take all their belongings. In total he amassed a fortune worth $1.3 trillion in today's value.

  • WHO CARES! ... as long as it isn't made by Micro$oft. I came, worked, and lived most of my life from the heart of the hi-tech industry (Silicon Valley), and for the past 25 to 30 years Micro$oft damn made sure in shutting down businesses producing products running up against theirs. I also knew people in small businesses threaten by Micro$oft (their reps and legal team)wanting to compete against their crappy OS systems (less refined and unreliable) M$ plays dirty! We need more competition!

  • hmmmmm?

  • LMFAO what did sony win? a format thats not even being adopted by 90% of the people? They sure lost on gaming, and microshaft is gonna give it to sony next time around if they dare step into the gaming ring, microSHAFT is all about giving the latter half of their name to competition, and money easily buys cheap hookers like sony.

  • finaly sony won.
