When I saw this on YouTube recently, I noticed that the audio was out of sync with the video in several places (14 places to be specific).
When they edited it together originally in the 1960's, the audio was recorded on a reel-to-reel and then married with the soundless film footage later in post production. The editors at the time did their best I'm sure to sync the two visually, but with the tools we have now a days, I was able to bring this in to Final Cut Pro and turn on the waveform editor to sync all the frames up perfectly with the visuals (some of them were off by up to a full second).
This video should be a fully restored version of what you would have heard if you were actually standing there, watching and listening.
