This is a HMV automatic changer from 1928. I am showing the mechanics in operation and the records changing. I have worked on it to get it to this point but currently I can not figure out what is making it change continuously. Several friends wanted to see it so here it is at this stage of the restoration. It will change a stack of records in any order of 10" & 12" but one side only. Please excuse the quality. My new camera is not compatible with my computer and my old camera is rather on the blink. I recorded this off the TV from the new camera to the old so I could upload it.
I've watched several early record changers on youtube this afternoon and all of them (except the Swiss 60s model) seem to eject quickly and with a scrape. Yes, they're all lined with felt, but I really get the feeling that 78s weren't meant to cherish as we do nowadays. It feels like much more of a disposable entertainment watching the changers, although everyone I knew who bought records took care of them. Thanks for posting!!

Dude, I'm sure that's frustrating to work on but it's really funny if you think about it.
High speed express record stacks! Listen to all of your faves in 3 minutes!
I'm sorry. I know that can't be fun to figure out but I thought it looked amusing.

It was the first record changer.
Look for the drive clutch that disconnects the changing drive.

Man! Another one rough on records! I guess they hoped they would break or get all scratched up and you'd buy new ones.

Very amusing! Looks like a machine for auto-destruction of records.
