Bruce Forsyth, whose TV career has spanned more than five decades, has finally received a knighthood after years of campaigning by fans. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn
The fact that people campaigned for him to have a knighthood and that it was long awaited says it all. What have these mega rich celebs done to deserve such accolade? it's the lollipop man or woman who for the past 40 years has helped kids cross the road in the cold and rain that should be getting the bloody knighthood not these people!
I think it helps to be a certain age to "get" Brucie. Probably over 40. Personally, while I can see what might irritate people about him, I loved the episodes of Generation Game that he hosted. His other shows pale behind that for me, but stick the Gen Game on and I'm always guaranteed to be entertained. They're also interesting from a historic/social point of view now. It was a simpler time and people were less demanding, but that show had a certain something, and Bruce did it best.
Yikes, apparently there are a lot of English people who don't care for Bruce Forsyth. I'd only met two so far, but that's what happens when you live across the pond.
@paulod27. Calm down Brucie. It is you isn't it? Why don't you fuck off and retire? You've had 50+ years at the top. You are past it son, well past it. Some people might like you I don't. I think you are a prick who has stayed around for too long. As other people have pointed out firemen and nurses make a far greater contribution to society than assholes like you, where is their knighthoods? Leave the stage Brucie and try not to break a hip while doing so.
@SGR1000 Big deal if Justin was disappointed by his idol. People don't always match up to thier expectations in real life. Entertainers are entitled to Knighthoods as much as anyone and Bruce had to wait a long time for his, and it was justly deserved. It's nice that you consider people who help others in such a way, but that's not the way knighthoods are dealt with in our times.
@paulod27 2. I have the right to critisise and as I have already stated i'm not judging him for entertaining people or anyone else for that matter i'm critisising him for not being a "hero" because that's what getting a knighthood should be for "being a hero"........... When the knights of the round table got knighted by the king do you think the "Jester" got knighted too? No because it is for being a hero not a fool.... i'm not pointing fingers either no tv personailty should get it
@paulod27 not according to Justin Lee Collins in his interview by the BBC yesterday just Google it, he dissed him when he was starting off and was rude and abnoxious to him :) So please explain what "good things" Bruce Forsythe has done to deserve a "Knighthood" .........Give up his life to help the dying and the sick ? ...... Saved someone from dying in a blaxzing inferno? ......... helped save someone in a huge storm in dangerous waters?.... saved a child in an explosion? no he told jokes ;)
@SGR1000 But, people do give him respect that's the point. He got his KnightHood because so many people petitioned for him to get one. Anytime I saw him being interviewed he has shown nothing but appreciation for his fans! And if he has made any mistakes in life then it just shows that he is human! People who judge others need to look inside thier own closets before pointing the finger! No one is perfect my friend, so please get over it.
