the guy meant returning the serve, then doing a forehand.

most of the time, federer receives oponent serve with his backhand slice (when it is towards his backhand), to let him have more time to get ready for next shot..
But when he receive using backhand, the ball that he returns will have large amount of power generated..
so he's in peRFect state
