Beautiful version of a traditional American mountain song. The harmonies are extraordinary. Despite the morbidity of the subject, its an uplifting tune :-) The pictures are all copyright to their respective owners

  • R.I.P. Papas who passed away last night. Best Granddad anyone could have asked for. Love you xxxxxxxxxx

  • Wow Haterkiller, some very nice photos you put to this. (though I admit, I didn't understand butterfly man or the bears). Nevertheless....I'm going to have a look at your tunes since you are grounded enough and have ears to recognize true human music. =)

  • @Moonchalice Aaah I just remembered who the Butterfly man is!! It's Harry Smith, the guy who compiled the Anthology of American Folk Music. That's why he's in there :)

  • @Haterkiller And the bears are there coz it's mountain music :)

  • I've been born and raised in deep Texas, this song is so perfect for the South.

  • @BANGuzman For real, and yet i'm a British guy whose never seen the South but believe me I feel this one

  • @blueeyedsoldier100 No it's not. I appreciate the fact that you like the song, but this is not blues my friend, this is BLUEGRASS. If you want whiteboy blues, look up seasick steve, or watermelon slim.

  • I was born in N.E Georgia in the foothills of the great appalachian mountians songs like these were, what we were raised on.My great granfather born in 1867 was born in Corbin K.y.who taught them to my granfather and so on.People call us rednecks, hillbillies etc..But they don't know music and that these songs are brought from Euroupe with all our anscesters. The music is a part of all of us.Watch there movie The songcatcher it is wonderful. It tells the story of this wonderful music

  • @wwcharles76 I was born & raised in Michigan and thank you for the annexing but I think I will stay in SE Ky where its a bit warmer, both weather & people, lol

  • @royalmurdock Barbourville/Corbin area but dad's mother came from Bloody Harlan from the Ray clan, married a Stanley from Virginia. Her mother was from the North clan, was born in Little Rock Ark. after the Trail of Tears took her ancestors there. I grew up with a variety of music, & bluegrass was just one of the genre played around the house. I always heard this song Acappella too, with the exception of when guests came in & played instruments. Ralph's is the best I ever heard.

  • Who is the other artist singing with Ralph? Awesome job who ever!

  • i officially annex the upper peninsula of michigan to the southern states.

  • indescribable!

  • Jen Titus version to me Is better ^^"""
