Love this man. I was a janitor on the graveyard shift who played the recorded version of his book, "The Closing of the American Mind," many times over on my walkman. His talk on music and what Plato and Nietzsche had to say about it has never left me. I was able to get more of a critical distance away from rock music, though i still enjoy it. My love for Mozart, Mahler, Beethoven... was reinforced.
