I noticed in this video the bottom panel isn't covered in tolex. What kind of wood is it and why isn't it covered with tolex? Thanks!

@Idlehampster
There is no reason, only the look.
All my cab are built with plywood thickness: 22mm

These videos are very helpful! I'm in the process of building a fender-style cabinet for a Vintage 30 I recently acquired. I have a design in mind that will allow me switch between an open and closed back using two panels. The top panel will be smaller (mimicking yours) and will have a neutrik jack and be covered in tolex. A larger, bottom panel will seal the amp and make it closed or can be removed to make an open back. Any recommendations/advice? (second question in another post)

@Idlehampster
Very good idea to combine an open and close back, only one advise : try to get a good sealing for the close version, otherwise I think there is a air noise possible.

Very cool. I watched all 4 parts. I do have a couple of recommendations; Don't use tack nails to hold the "Tolex" and the speaker grill cloth. Nails will back out over time and become attracted to the magnet on the speaker. This is where believe it or not staples hold much better without backing out. The other recommendation I have is to use a heat sink on your speaker when soldering. Connect it to the small wires from the terminals to the cone. Good job!!

You have studied the question ! Yes I agree with you. my intention for nails on the tolex's border is to lock it during the drying of the glue. so when I put the front panel, it covered the nail's head. For the speaker grill cloth, I fixed with nail and screw, nail is not the better solution effectively, Look at my personnal 4x12 vidéo I used staples, is better
Thank you.
