In this episode, Nei and I get set to leave Paseo and start on our adventure. I show off the battle system in this game.

Here's how it works: All battles are continuous until the party wins or loses,. The player can, however, interrupt the battle with the A or C buttons. When a battle is interrupted, the player can change tactics with STGY, at which point he can ORDR party members individually, or RUN from conflict. Once all ORDRs are input, select FGHT to resume combat.

Combat will also stop if:

-A character uses an item
-A defensive/recovery Tech is used
-A character lacks TP (Tech Points) to throw offensive spells.
-A character is under status at the end of a round.

We'll be fighting a LOT to raise the Meseta we need to get better arms for the party. Recommended level from here is 4 or 5 for the Agent, and 10 for Nei

  • just got this on genesis collection, the battlings kinda weird, its like it fights for me

  • It's supposed to do that, but if you hit the Menu/Confirm button (C on the Genesis, Circle on the PlayStation family. or B on Xbox), you can alter the flow of combat. Most of the time, you won't have to.

  • I agree with Happy Console gamers view on the level design in PS II. The tunnel first person view was better in PS. This helicopter or w/e view is alright. Never played Phantasy Star either. Hope it is in this collection on the PS3. I don't have my manual at this time, so can't check.

  • PS1 is an unlock. I think you need to beat Eggman's Drill Car (Sonic 2, Emerald Hill) with two players in co-op to get it.

My only problem with the level design in PS II is that they show the overhead crossbeams, which makes navigation confusing. Most games don't have this depth of detail.

  • Thanks for posting this. I am playing this game on the Sonic Ultimate Genesis collection on PS3.

  • Very smart choice, that. I'm glad you like it.
