Wow. Layne's mother spoke volumes. Mike Starr wasn't able to fight his own problems. Best friends and neither could help the other. This was sad to watch. I saw that season of VH1 Celebrity Rehab. Mike was really hurting over Layne's death. I too, believe the guilt helped kill him, he probably kept getting high to drown out the pain, along with being addicted.

Alot of these guys from the grunge era screwed up. We all thought we were invincible back then, we thought we were gonna rule the world. Clinton, a young guy, was in the white house, grunge ruled the airwaves w/ a great movement, we were rebelling but lots of us messed up & never got to where we thought we'd be going. All those musicians kids idolize now are dead & were junkies back then. I miss the music but we were far from successful.

I say again Mike had to do something,if he'dbeen a friend. No excuses.Yes,probably he's a liar...about what does he lie? About his friendship with Layne? About his senses of guilt? Starr said he felt guilty for not calling 911,  but I also suspect a huge part of it was Layne's "not like this" Basically "I'm dieing, I want a friend, not the paramedics" Mike was probably thinking the last thing Layne saw was one of his best friends abandoning him.

@giuliana2610 Yea. Mike was over at Layne's place. when Layne was doing lots of drugs. Layne told Mike if He called 911 He would never talk to Him agin. (they was best friends as well) so they kinda got into it. Mike left and went home. layne then died. it was not Mike fault tho. Mike didnt make Him take the drugs. and Layne could have called 911 for help as well. altho I wish Mike would have called tho. since Layne never did.
