GIGABYTE First With Motherboard iPad Recharging Capability. Over 40 GIGABYTE Motherboard Models Supply Sufficient Power to Charge an iPad While It Is Being Used.Apple iPad

TAIPEI, Taiwan April 12, 2010 GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions today proudly announced their full range of Intel chipset-based X58, P55, H55, H57 as well as current and upcoming AMD 800 chipset series motherboards all allow charging of Apples latest hot selling iPad while the device is in use (on) and also when not in use (off).

Recent industry and news reports indicate that USB ports on most Windows PCs are unable to provide enough power to charge the new iPad while the device is in operation due to differences between motherboard USB power output and the devices charging specifications. However, GIGABYTEs unique USB power design is able to deliver extra power for devices that require more than the 500mA delivered from a traditional USB port. With a simple On/Off Charge driver update which can be found on the GIGABYTE website, GIGABYTE motherboard users are able to take full advantage of USB charging of their iPad, giving them more options and convenience when recharging their new device.

To download the GIGABYTE On/Off Charge driver, please visit the GIGABYTE website at: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Utility_DownloadFile.aspx?File...

  • You guys quit being lazy an get your ass up and plug it in to the wall outlet!

  • It's from the standard USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports with 5V only. Other motherboards offer 0.5A from USB 2.0 ports and 0.9A from USB 3.0 ports. Gigabyte offers 1.5A and 2.7A (3 times the amperage) from their USB ports respectively.

It won't kill other devices because the device dictates how much current it draws. Gigabyte simply makes 3x current available if the device wants it.

  • @MJBDC07 Answer is 2 lines below ;)

  • The only difference is that Gigabyte allows charging while the computer is OFF but with Asus Ai Charger, you can do the same as Gigabyte ON/OFF stuff on any computer ! Don't be a victim of their marketing !

  • GIGABYTE is offering 3x USB power with ON/OFF charge USB port at latest models right now. It's a pure hardware design, such like 2 real recharger on board. Maybe the follower will coming soon.

  • It's still a big issue if GIGABYTE did not solve this problem of iPad recharging by April 11, 2010, and maybe we could not see many GIGABYTE's follower to copy this idea if GIGABYTE did not offer the ON/OFF Charge driver in the first time. I feel GIGABYTE welcome any follower to copy this ideas, because GIGABYTE is really a leader of motherboard innovation.

  • Not only Gigabyte can supply sufficient power for the iPad, check my channel for the answer ;)

  • @uncola1979 Try On/Off Charge Ver.B10.0422.2 or later . It will work fine.

  • Try On/Off Charge Ver.B10.0422.2 or later . It will work fine.

  • I have a gigabyte p55a ud3 and I installed the on off charge driver on win 7 64 and it doens't work 90% of the time I plug in my ipad. Is this a known problem? I'd love to hear a response from gigabyte. I've tried both rear usb 2 and 3 ports
