Caruso was the fisrt of the recording superstar and Its wold wide popularity let him to apear in a couple of silent films(My italian cousin)
Caruso didn't live to see the advantage of the talkies(films) but in 1911 un enterprising french studio made a film "Chantants"(singers)with actors moving to Caruso's recording of the sextet of Lucia di Lammermoor.

  • What an incredible voice! I can see why people were going nuts over him. If I'd been around in those days, I'd have flipped for Caruso, too.

  • @stefakamelpash it is fascinating though the Alisa barely moves, it's funny to watch her. The sound's poor, but the singing from all's superb.

  • at least the one imposed by that particular film maker to his "actors".

  • A most magically attractive sextet. Cheers!

  • I can't help visiting and revisiting, and revisiting this classic performance.. A magnificence that goes beyond time, indeed.....

  • It is one of my greatest pains in life that I will never get to hear that majestic voice in person. I feel that Caruso is like a soulmate to me. I have made it my duty as a singer to preserve his style and manner.

  • The Lucia sextet, because of its very early age, gives us a good idea of the melodramatic acting styles of the period. Fascinating historical document.

  • No, its Galla-Curci

  • is that melba as lucia?

  • Fascinating documentary. I've seen Caruso's silent film, which tends to drag on with the benefit of vocal sound. That aside, it gives us the only sample of his acting skills. Thanks for this video; it's a gem.
