@Rory1956 She surely is not superb here but if you want to listen to a real voice just listen to her "Damour sullali rosee" from Il Travatore and "Addio del pasato" from La Traviata. You will understand why European people loved her that much. Greets from Turkey.

Not my favorite performance by Gencer- I have heard far better- but what singer this was.

What a magnificent performance of the Finale to Bolena...Leyla Gencer was like Callas' twin. She had all the same skills when it came to singing bel canto in dramatic soprano voice. I like Callas and Gencer equally. This was really mind blowing and I have it on my favorites! She's a super soprano!

C'est un peu expéditif; court pour dire le vrai et la reprise sans ornementation est un contresens musical. Primohomme nous dit qu'elle chante ce qui est écrit( ce qui n'est pas tout à fait vrai puisque les trilles ne sont pas réellement battus) et c'est précisément ce qu'on est en droit de lui reprocher. La lettre n'est pas l'esprit et Gencer en manque singulierement ici! du "demi- belcanto" par une Artiste cependant indéniable.

If you're in the classification business, so popular among youtubers (see the pure stupidity they get up to in the various Tebaldi/Callas or Correlli/del Monaco/di Stefano camps) go ahead and make your lists of the best this and that. By second to none I mean her interpretation are of that extremely high quality that does not fear comparrison with other interpreters of a given role. You may of course have your subjective reasons for not liking her.
