The Mar-Keys, formed in 1958, were an American studio session band for the Stax label from Memphis, Tennessee, in the 1960s. As the first house band for the label, their backing music formed the foundation for the early 1960s Stax sound.
they scored a number-three hit nationally with "Last Night" in 1961.It sold over one million copies, earning gold disc recognition.
@kennyleelewis1 ..VERY interestng. I always thought that Duck Dunn had always been the bass player for Booker T and the MGs.

The bass player on this track is Lewie Steinberg. He was also the original bass player and co-writer of "Green Onions" with Booker T and the MGs. He was the house bass player at Stax at the time and Duck Dunn was added AFTER Lewie did the first tour. Lewie did this track as a sideman and was not a member of the Mar-Keys.
