  • Well either way is fine but I think my method is easier , it has to go back in either way you do it , I actually put it back in myself. With it lying on the table it seems you wouldn't be able to tuck the felt at the point of contact with the table. This video is just to show my process as I had no clue as I began but it came out perfect:)

  • Go down 6 columns and read from top!!!

  • For rails I cut a triangle with at least a 4 inch overhang but never really developed a system just pull very tight and staple .take your time when cutting cause you can't add felt but you can always take away..I used the Mali 21oz burgundy I purchased from eBay and my table rolls perfect.English applies 100% better...it's about $70 shipped in 3 days....hope this helps!!

  • Start on one end and glue, then pull tight but don't strain, glue other end..just cut strips in felt for pockets and tuck.you can start on either side but alternate so you're not pulling against a freshly glued side.one completed trim underside with razor and reassemble..as far as the rails they must be stapled.for me this was aggravating and requires some serious pulling, stretching and finessing .I spent 30 min on one rail trying to get it right..

  • Pull away old felt and clean slate thoroughly paying close attention to the edges where alot of glue may be left behind (I cleaned edges with a dremel tool but not the top. any imperfection will seem like a mountain once new felt is on.use 3m 77 spray glue from lowes or home depot (9.99)it doesn't take much and dries pretty quick but allow a couple of minutes to tack once you spray..remember you have an inch or so overlap on the slate because of the rails so dint worry much about overspray..

  • Then you'll want to have 2 2x4s handy, cut one for each end as wide as the table, then cut 2 more not quite as wide as the slate and allow for room to glue the new felt.turn the short 2x4 on its side ,center it to one of the longer ones and then put at least 3 screws in it,repeat for other end..to lift slate grab corner pocket holes and lift while a friend puts the 2x4s under it.(don't forget to protect the surface I did this with tape)

  • i am in the amusement business and the way we do it is take the slate out and turn it to where it lays across the side rails.i have never seen it done this way and i can bet that it was a bear getting it back in.

  • This video is just to give you an idea of the overall process..it's really very simple to get to this point if you have an idea of where you're headed.as I searched for how to info everyone seemed to refer to "trade secrets"but there's nothing to it..just take off the side trim, pull the long screws out that hold the rails ,take out the rails..
