In 1919 the Custer Specialty Company of Dayton, Ohio began manufacturing gasoline powered wheelchairs. They built the chairs until the 1940s. After WWII several other american companies built gasoline powered invalid chairs. None of these were the first however, the first gasoline powered invalid chairs were constructed in the UK and Europe during the late 19th Century.

this is my 3rd chair i made. the first was in 2004, just never made a video of it. an i have tried to connect the engine to the back wheels but the engine is to small to move it. could use a bigger engine but its to much work for me to do

There's a video of a proper petrol powered wheelchair that was uploaded February 2007. Guess that means this wasn't the first?
Plus this is a wheelchair sat on top of a goped. lol

all it is, is a wheel chair strapped onto a gas scooter. still good though.. will you try making one that the motor actually drives the wheels?
