  • I remember that typhoon. According to all the news it was a cat 5 super typhoon. It up rooted trees, knocked over semi trucks, obliterated bleachers, and just wreaked havoc all over base.

  • I believe this is super typhoon man-yi, however when it struck okinawa it was no longer a super typhoon, but still a typhoon. Super typhoons pack winds of at least 150 MPH or more.

  • Quack Quack Imus Rules Quack Quack

  • OK, then it must have been in 1990... I remember that it was a "Super" Typhoon.

  • You're talking about Typhoon Kinna back in September 1991. She was not a Super Typhoon. She's between a Category 2/3 Storm. Yes intense but not Super. Later.

  • I watched a SUPER-Typhoon come through there in 1991! It was so freaky. Not only was it intense, but the eye went right over the island. So odd to have all that crazy weather, then calm and sunny and then it started back up again. Never forget that experience!

I used to live two blocks away from the Sunabe sea wall from Aug 1990 to September 1992 next to that local grocery store (lived on Camp Foster from October 1992 to August 1993).

  • Impresionantes rachas, brutales!!

  • I was in that Typhoon.
