Orthodox Bulgarians call for unity with Catholics "urgent"

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church has recognized the urgent need to find unity with the Catholics.

The president of the diocese of Central and Western Europe of the Patriarchate of Bulgaria, Tichon, Ivanov, told the Pope that the union is necessary because citizens do not understand the divisions and discussions between Catholics and Orthodox.

Regarding the Committee of Dialogue meeting between Catholics and heads of the Orthodox Church in Cyprus, Ivanov said that theres nothing to fear about finding a way to celebrate the Eucharist together.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church became autonomous or autocephalous in the year927 and has 6 million followers. The Orthodox Church has about 225 million followers world wide.

@TheSpaniard1521 Please don't speak such mistaken ideas. If you are a fellow Catholic, read up more about the Eastern churches, our dear brethren, who have resisted so many persecutions from Islam. Do not fight. Let the successors of the apostles work out a reunion of brothers, and let Us pray to God for Unity, as Jesus prayed to the Father for it so that the world might believe He sent Jesus.

@TheSpaniard1521What a bullshit!!! Orthodoxy has never been created!! It is a way of life and faith in Christ, in which we experience Him, the most explicit way. We admit that when the Church was one and division was not taking place, the bishop of Rome was a ligitimate Church spiritual leader. Unfortunately later in history things has changed and newly addopted understandings of spiritual reality, foreign to the Spirit of God, caused the spiritual crush of the West.

@Moonchild091 --I guess both St. Peter and Christ committed a big error in having the former die in Rome where Christ spoke of a church that would not fall to the gates of hell, a rock (petra) where Simon would form the foundation. Oh well, that's just the way it happened.
