RoboCop is a 1987 science fiction film directed by Paul Verhoeven. Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan in the near future, RoboCop centers on a police officer who is murdered brutally and subsequently re-created as a super-human cyborg known as "RoboCop". In addition to being an action film, RoboCop includes larger themes regarding the media, gentrification, corruption, and human nature. It has spawned merchandise, two sequels, three television series, a television mini-series, video games and two comic book adaptations.

The film features Peter Weller, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Nancy Allen, Miguel Ferrer and Ronny Cox.

If you're wondering why the hell I have The Terminator music playing to a RoboCop montage, it's kind of a reference to the fact that the early theatrical teaser trailer for RoboCop featured the music back in 1986.

RoboCop is my favourite film and quite possible one of THE best....pure masterpiece of cinematography and I'm very passionate about it. I hope I've expressed that and other Robo fans like this video.

Favourite scenes:

The coke factory where be busts in and pwns everyone along with the ending...

"Nice shootin' son, what's your name?"
"Murphy"

  • I know people hate remakes, but the remake is in the hands of a good director though. Darren Aronofsky, he's made some really good films And its because he is directing the remake that I am curious to see it

  • Last I heard, it wasn't going to be a remake per say - more of a reboot where the characters would have different names, it'd be in a different location and from the sound of it...has nothing to do with RoboCop.

Although, I haven't heard much news other than that in a while. There's no doubt Darren Aronofsky is a good director, but even good directors make mistakes like Brian Singer and "Superman: Returns" or Zack Snyder and "Sucker Punch".

Guess we'll just have to see though.

  • I just want that if they do a new movie, don't do anithing like the lame 2004 mini-series, that sucked!

  • 2004 mini-series?...I don't know what you're talking about (tries to forget that mini-series ever existed). XD

  • Hey ! Good work! Robocop it's my favorite movie too :) The old good acion movie.

Robocop 1 and 2. Terminator... Good times :D

    The best year 1987 :)

I remember series (1994). That was my favorite serial.

  • Thanks, I wasn't sure how this would turn out and I remember that series too, used to watch it as a kid.

As for 1987 being the best year...I have to agree although I might be biased since that's the year I was born in. lol

  • I hate Robocop. I hope they dump his rusty ass in molten steel like they did the Terminator.

  • @bufalo1973 Well I'd love to see that, but Verhoven is 72 olready :( But you know what? There is a good thing about lame remake... if it would be as lame as I predict people will look back and compare it with the original movie which was good.

  • @YuriPRIME Not if Verhoeven did this. I heard something about him directing Robocop $ some time ago. Something about "erasing" Robocop 2 and 3.

  • @LordReserei01 epic man... i loved it

  • @vanderghast72 I think that would be bad :( They would swap all the good stuff with ass-cgi and make Murphy into some dumb japanese roof-top-jumping robot who kills shit with katanas >.> plus lame romance with jessica alba or some other hollywood teen...

Ughhh... This movie is true Masterpiece
