  • Warehouses would be great as long as they could deliver at evenings or at times specific to each receiver. Would add some extra cost to the consumer unless the suppliers of the goods subsidized it. Good observations :)

  • They can! If properly organised. Patrick Dixon

  • pjdixon. What do you think about the system where customers make orders online and things get delivered to their home, without any extra charge for home delivery. There are no retails but only ware houses. Do you think it is feasible?

  • ok

Short for relational database management system and pronounced as separate letters, a type of database management system (DBMS) that stores data in the form of related tables. Relational databases are powerful because they require few assumptions about how data is related or how it will be extracted from the database. As a result, the same database can be viewed in many different ways.

  • RDBMs - please explain so every viewer can learn more. Patrick Dixon

  • Anythings possible with RDBMS's

  • Could there be a "community hub" that works like the hub and spoke sytem used by commercial airlines? Rather than having the last mile converge on the consumer (which is very inefficient), have the next-to-the-last mile converge on a nearby hub and then have the packages consolidated and routed in the most efficient way for the last mile. A powerful information system could facilitate this, but I do not know if it is feasible.
