To answer benhurfanclub's question, this version was performed by the Frankenland State Symphony Orchestra, today the Nuremburg Orchestra, conducted by Erich Kloss. It was one of Miklos Rozsa's favorite ensembles. There were rumors that Rozsa himself was the "Erich Kloss" who conducted the piece, but he always said "No comment."

no se parece a otras musicas de Miklos Rosza, pero me gusta mucho.

Except for a few parts, this isn't the soundtrack. Who wrote this, and what orchestra perfomed it?

Thanks for this. Rózsa is the best, that is no question. I hope that we will have a guy like him once again...in this century. (Overtune, Act 1 is the best). Bye

Stroppytube ... if you pick up the Sony 2CD (as opposed to the Rhino 2CD from the original masters) you'll have this piece and many more, adapted by Rozsa himself from the score.

You are welcome, Ostmusicmix. Please post more clips, if you can. I really enjoy this music so much. Do you have any of the music for the Zatoichi series of films? I like this set of films, as well.
Thank you ostmusicmix. I have loved Dr. Rozsa's music all my life and have collected all of his music but I have never heard this piece. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this marvellous piece!

I love this piece of music. It has an A-B-C-A structure where 'A' is material originally composed for the Intermission ... an Entr'Acte, but William Wyler didn't like it, so it was replaced by the Entr'acte that's in the film now. Miklos Rozsa really let rip here: 'The spendours and miseries of the ancient world' he said! What was there not for Wyler to like, I wonder?! Tune 'B' is the 'Judaea' theme, and 'C' is the 'Mother's Theme', which was based on an ancient Hebrew melody.
