Land Protests in Kashmir Valley

In the Kasmir Valley there is increasing tension over land given to a revered Hindu shrine. And now it's hitting students in the region. Here's more on this story.

STORY:
Since the province's government took away land designated for the shrine, life in the valley has snowballed into full-scale protests. This is starting to hurt college students in Srinagar.
The frequent protests, stoppages and curfews have taken a toll on their studies.

[Rafeeq Ahmad, Student]:
"We have had these shutdowns ever since the land shrine row started. And there have been no sessions in the college, the teaching staff don't come, no transportation and the main issue as of now is that our exams are approaching and our syllabus is not over as yet."

The students are hoping the situation returns to normal soon.

[Tajamul, Student]:
"Protesters used to shout slogans on the streets, protests and agitations used to be staged everywhere. Since the past one, one and a half months, we have been suffering. Our studies have suffered a lot."

The crisis began over 50 days ago when the state government promised to give forest land to a trust that runs a Hindu cave shrine.

Many Muslims living in the valley were enraged by this.

But when the government changed its decision, this in turn angered the Hindus.

What else do u expect from kashmiris when u keep on killing them, when u are not ready and serious about solving the problem? Ask ur indian govt. about the lose of lives, since 2 decades its the indian army thats killing, looting and raping, they are the actual reason for all this, they are the reason why kashmiris can never forget and forgive indian, the real terrorists in kashmir are the indian troops always ready to kill, beat and rape, always ready to kill in custody and fake encounters.

Muslim rule of India was the era of success, justice & freedom. In Mughal reign it was known as the golden sparrow attracting the British who with hypocrisy succeeded in getting the throne. They looted all the wealth, gold, diamonds, emeralds divided India & left with Kashmir issue as a dispute in the two countries finally becoming the cause of both emerging as Atomic Powers. It must be solved if both the countries want to prosper with political & economic stability, peace & justice to prevail
