Indonesia's ambassador to the United States, Dino Patti Djalal, speaks to a packed house at U.Va.'s Nau Hall Auditorium. He shares what he sees as the promise of an increasingly interconnected world. He also challenges students to find their places in the world by making positive changes.
Ambassador Djalal started his service in Washington in September 2010. He previously served as an adviser to Indonesia's president. His father, Hasjim Djalal, was the first Indonesian student at the University of Virginia. Hasjim Djalal received his doctorate of jurisprudence, the School of Law's highest degree, in 1959. Ambassador Djalal spoke of how education shaped his father's life and he proudly held his father's thesis during his U.Va. visit.
