Yeah, pretty sure, the guy doing it is a ref at grapplers quest. Don't know why he'd be showing illegal moves. I also saw marcelo garcia do it or a combination of it a few times.

LOL, although that would be fun I don't nearly have the recognition to be invited. Nor would I really put myself in that range with some or the greats, it would be an honor some time in the future though. haha

I know that's what I said, I really just stay away from it. I only do no gi for bjj and gi for judo....and as we know bjj guys show up for the judo tourneys anyway. personally though moves like this I just stay away from.

ugh, either way the variation shown is illegal in gi or no gi comp, and you would be able to tap someone like that as I've done it before it turns into a crank which is all about pain tolerance. also its illegal because most refs don't care to much detail about you hands exact position on the neck but as long at its wrapped around the neck to them its illegal, to a ref its about quick thinking and reaction and a move like that can only jeopardize your win. I stay away from it.

that wouldn't be a choke it would turn into a crank with your variation, which I would only use if I was going to regain guard, or if the person is weak willed get a tap. nice though

instead of grabbing the neck like that couldnt you put him in a muay thai clinch, keep your elbows together, squeeze with the knees and get a choke that way?

I dont think so but what do you think bring the hands (so you have you hands on his neck then when legs squeze you do same with your hands as you do with all chokes that little turn of your hands to make it a little tighter? what do you think bud
