Auto companies are finally mass-producing electric cars that are going farther and farther on a single charge. CBS News national correspondent Ben Tracy reports on how drivers are responding to the increased options as the price of gas continues to rise.

  • @CamNM1991 How the fuck is charging batteries burden? You sleep while you charge your Cellphones, people charge they're laptops in a daily basis so how hard does charging a car could be? 150 miles a charge is already better. People usually spend 20-40 dollars to fill up their tank for 2 days drive, compare it with a 5 dollar electricity bill per 2 days.

  • The very moment we can place solar panels on the roof to charge those batteries in a extremely clan process, then use the money we did not spend on gas, on something else, and put that money back into the economy without going though the oil companies, this world will be much better off. Wow! I bet the oil companies will not like that at all. Hence the reason for all the miss information spurring forth in opposition of electric cars.

  • Remember when they made cars, people on horseback were laughing because the cars were slow and roads weren't made for cars then. Well now we have a new generation of retards that think gas will last forever. Rather than embracing the change to EV you hate it. Why not buy one and keep your gas guzzler for long trips you will still save.

  • @johnkx Unfortunately, solar charging is too slow and you need a HUGE surface area to make it work well enough. We need something that is a quantum leap ahead of this. There has got to be something better out there. Eventually it will happen.

  • Charging your car gets annoying when you have to park -it car in the garage all the time. It's also annoying to plug-in everyday. However it's worth the cost. Electric Cars get $.02 cents a mile, $6.75 to Fully Charge. 150 MPG. That's 5X's the MPG of a regular gasoline car.

  • I want a Honda Jazz EV for a perfect city car :)......

  • Excellent video. See my channel electric motor new design. It is very original model of electric motor (it has no accelerating coil, special phase-shifting devices and condensers).

  • @johnkx in the 70s they lined up at gas stations and protested all OVER the country. I guess people felt so compelled to go to work, that they forgot that if gas goes up their worthless jobs will make even less, because although they make $30/hr EVERYTHING else will go up, while their salary won't.

I hope your parents buy a Leaf instead, then, cuz a Prius still uses gas and has maintenance, whereas electric has very little maintenance.

  • @shakaama Actually people resisted just not visible enough - I, for one, Scheduled my time wisely and I don't go out more often now because of the price. I had to schedule all my class for 2 days so I don't have to drive to school 5 times a day back and forth. If this reaches 5 dollar per gallon I bet my parents would sell all our cars and buy a prius even though its gay as shit as long as it can save money.
