The foundation students that I teach are animation majors. So a lot of them are really influenced heavily by mostly animation. I teach an advanced illustration class and perhaps I'll ask those students if they would be interested in having their stuff filmed. It would be different indeed. Jody didn't say anything about a deviant account. I'll ask her in class tomorrow. I have some of her sketchbook drawing at my blog.

eeeee she's wearing the hat i gave her. It's amazing how incredibly quick she improved over last semester. I never thought I'd be best friends with someone who's artistic skill makes me incredibly jealous. :'D I suppose Matt's class obviously forces you to work hard, but it's definitely worth it. Heck, I've learned a bunch just from his public youtube stuff. KEEP UP THE AWESOME, JODY.

@matthew39arch Now am more determine to become a better artist! Seeing your students sketchbooks make me want to improve a whole lot. I got to draw more. I just whish I didn't get tired so fast when I try. People in my town say I am going to be famous, but I don't really know to belive them. I just hope when I go to my next high school I will have more time to draw. I also hope the teacher's are as good as you. I never met you but I bet your a good teacher! Its my dream to be like no artist befo

Is this some kind of sick, pathetic joke? This is nothing more than the obscenity of mediocrity, which seems to occupy the vast majority of these videos. And this so-called instructor is complementary about nothing. This entire video shows nothing but slight sketches, the kind of things you could do as doodles while you're in a phone conversation. There are no drawings. Only slight sketches. You people don't even know what real drawings are. Real drawings are fine art. Not any of this.

Shes very talented, but all these mish mash unfinished pages I find off-putting. Pages should be filled; they looks sparse. It would improve her work massively if she could fill just one book properly before starting on another.

Most of your students seem to be head over heels in love with anime and/or disney, and you get the same pictures in each sketchbook. Not to say these young artists aren't talented (you can see they are), but there are so many different types of art! Why throw away 90% of all other animation?! Anime is a japanese take on Disney, so the styles are almost identical (take a look at Disney's Tarzan, to name one).

I don't understand why anime-manga is so popular - its like if thousands of illustrators copy Schultz peanuts style - no less weird than if that happened. It's just one, not particularly special, STYLE. You need to find your own style artists! It is depressing this homogeneity is in animation schools so people will be marketable. On a positive note Jody is super talented!
