I do believe that mobile computing will push desktops into the margins of yesteryear. Mobile could be the 5th generation of computing as devices are getting more and more powerful and capable. Quad-core Tegra 3? Epic. Lightweight, powerful, adaptive. Don't stop the change.

Well I can't imagine me plugging in my 5.1 speakers, racing steering wheel and Track IR into my phone to play some of my games. So no, mobiles wont replace PC.

I think we will have many computers. We will have larger non-mobile or semi-mobile computers at homes, ones we use in our cars, ones we carry on our person & they won't be considered competing with each. It will just be considered normal to have some sort of computing/communciation/entert
ainment device with you wherever you are. Size being determined by convenience. It's already somewhat like that now. -
Desktop PC's will not die out. The amount of processing power is vastly different. It would be like comparing a husky to a chihuahua.
In the mainstream world, it may die off in say ~30 years. But professionally, there are industries that without PC's, the industry would basically disappear.
oh and to every smartphone user.. it's not windows or apple software. welcome to linux :3

Didn't desktop PCs stop being mainstream a while ago losing popularity to Laptops. I can easily imagine the same thing happening with tablets and phones.
I can't imagine PCs ceasing to exist as there will always be people who need that power but I can see them possibly being niche product.

Will mobile kill desktop?
Apple Mac user: Yes. You could do everything in a mobile next 5 years mobile will replace it.
Windows PC user: Never gonna happen. Only a fraction of pc work can be done on a mobile.
Is this a serious question? :L Sounds like someone a super apple fanboy would say...

Mobile crap will never have the same potential of desktop PC, at least for the next 50 years?
PC Will continue to evolve for gaming, video editing, work.
