Rene Thomas died at 47 (Jan 75) of heart attack during tour with Lou Bennett (after long period of drugs and alcohol) We followed continuously his music in 60' & 70'

...I forget the great Eddie Gomez (listen him with Bill Evans in Autumn Leaves ,for exemple)...

Sorry ...I'm always desappointed by those great musicians playing in small group (ex : trio)with an electric bass : may be the el.bass player is good technically, but the sound is "tasteless" . I invite you to listen some groups like Kenny Burrell trio, groups including Stanley Clarke (el or double-bass), Miroslav Vitous, Jaco Pastorious who sometimes prefers double-bass, NHOP....

pass the soap

Freddie Deronde: Bass, Felix Simtaine: Drums

bass fuzz overdrive at 5 29 sounded like shit to me but maybe he felt like that at the time so it was his call.

gotta love the thing at 8.27

Not Rene at his best sadly.

Could this be Lion s’Envoile in Liege, Belgium? I have played there a couple of times in the late 70s and it looks familiar...

What a rare sight.
I always wanted to see this man play live and this is as close as it gets.
Yikes, what a shame the bass player is doing a "Jack Bruce" impersonation and seems to be out on his own.
But many thanks for this video.
It's such a valuable footage, so wonderful. Thank-you so much.
(The bass player is so particularly dreadfully awful - he reminds me of one in ireland... I certainly share Mr. Thomas' evident impatience...).

May I ask where this comes from, venue, and date, and, particularly, personell?

@ColmOSullivanRed
I do not know, but I think the movie was made in early 1970
