Superficial Superglow -- Fizzle
The construction and finishing of a lighting installation project in Hollywood. All told the project contains approximately 500 vacuum formed pieces, 24 vacuum formed wall panels, 1000 leds, 1500+ feet of wiring, 6 arduino microcontrollers, and 18 weeks of mine an my colleagues lives.
Basically it was an exploration of the emergent properties of combining small plastic pieces with programmed leds. The properties that emerged, both planned and unplanned for, emphasize the deepest points of the plastic weave while at the same time creating a zone of glow between the two walls. This enhances both the inhabitable space of the entryway and the uninhabitable space within the project.
