On June 6, 2009, The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future held the Hold Your Horses Family Festival. This program was held in conjunction with the exhibit "Tall in the Saddle: Cowgirls, Ranch Women & Rodeo Gals."
Attendees braved the Texas summer heat and took part in rodeo activities including calf roping and lassoing. There were also arts and crafts activities for children, food from a simulated chuck wagon and a western stilt walker. Amongst all the entertainment, families learned about women's contributions in the west and the important role women play on the ranch and in the rodeo.
