A preview of a project, not done yet, but it will simulate evolution.
Both simulations i ran that were recorded were fairly bad since all the creatures died off eventually. Ive had very good ones though were they populate extremely fast.
Creatures reproduce asexually. Their traits are based off of their parents traits, with a slight change.

There are 3 primary traits which reflect on their color:
Red - Max Speed
Green - Acceleration
Blue - Max Health

4 Secondary Traits that you cannot see unless you look closely
Reproduction Rate
Knock-Back after eating food
Intelligence
Immunity vs Poison Food

Poison food appears more often when there are more creatures. They lower the creatures stats, however creatures have an immunity and intelligence level which will help them avoid or not suffer as much from eating the food.

  • What's the longest run time till extinction you have had running? Are you tracking that? Are you tracking number of evolutionary changes the species go through? This is kewl! Gratz!

  • @MachetePanda Depends on the settings.

Ive once had it run for a few hours, and one time only a few minutes. Since E2 is sooo limited, when the chip reaches maximum tick-quote, it can no longer continue and keep track of more creatures.

  • News:

This is going to be remade in C#/XNA studios. It will feature predators, diverse life, 100's of organisms, more traits, evolution chains, and much more!

  • How can I get this? I could watch this all day.

  • @DBlackmaen

Subscribe, thumbs up, and ill probably give it out.

  • Interesting concept. How did you determine stats? Like if a creature was prone to go eat poison food over normal food? It is based on biased probability or just a simple 1/0 on/off trait?

  • @iforgotaboutit It was programmed to have a bias probability in later stages. However when we added bias probability the chip began to become unstable in some simulations due to increase resource needs.

  • I have to say, I'm very impressed with the quality of this simulation. I didn't think this kind of complex programming was possible in Gmod.

  • I KNOW YOU FROM THE D3VINE PUBLIC BUILD SERVER.
