More on the James's Union UJ50 Drum Kit

Uploaded for people who have asked for more information on this Jr Union Drum Kit. James is doing some exploratory drumming. But for the purposes of this video, this works fine.

My original video for the drum set did not have James using the bass drum, so it's good to actually hear it. You can hear that there really isn't a real thud sound, but that's what you have to expect in a junior kit. I also wanted to show just how high his Pearl drum pedal hits on the 16" bass drum. I can lower the mallet more, but it throws off the balance of the pedal.

The piccolo snare is 13" and does not fit well in the snare stand (made for a 12" snare) that came w/ the kit. It works. I'm having a tough time finding a snare stand that can sit as low as his current one. However, soon I'll have James using a higher throne and that might allow a switch to a larger snare stand (and 14" snare).

The Pearl Hi-Hat, as you can see is too tall for James. My fault for not testing the min height for the hi-hat first. The hi-hat that came with the Union drum kit was pretty bad. The cymbals were ok (for a junior kit), but the tension on the stand was too high for a young kid and the pedal itself is thin. It's possible that the hi-hat stand that came with James's kit was just defective. Oh well, we moved on.

I added another crash cymbal to his kit and you may have noticed that the placement of the cymbals seem unusual. Also, a ride cymbal is missing. The simple answer is that we didn't want our TV viewing to be blocked. :)
